The Director of Total Rewards and Shared Services
The Director of Total Rewards & Shared Services will provide leadership, strategic direction and continuous improvement of compensation, executive compensation, benefits, HR shared services, rewards and wellness programs that are aligned with the Health System’s total rewards philosophy and strategic direction. You will lead the total rewards function and will be responsible for the development of short-term and long-term solutions and strategies to further the health system’s position as a certified Top 100 Best Companies to Work For.
The Director will report to the System Chief Human Resources Officer and must have a background which combines exceptional technical knowledge and outstanding relationship skills. The successful candidate will bring a strategic perspective as well as the ability to be hands on and operational.
Drive strategic planning, design, implementation, communication, evaluation and management of the Health System’s compensation and benefits programs to attract and retain top talent.
Provide subject matter expertise and ensures the total rewards philosophy and programs are aligned and achieving the desired business results.
Serve as the system expert in the design, implementation and administration of health and welfare, voluntary benefit, 403b, 457 and retirement, life, disability, relocation, rewards and recognition programs.
Evaluate and compare existing health system’s benefits and wellness initiatives with external benchmarking to understand the evolving competitive landscape.
Work closely with IT and HRIS leaders to define HR information systems and application strategies in support of business objectives. Develop and design a progressive HRIS strategy using all current technologies and touching on all areas of HR systems functions including staffing, on-boarding, talent management, benefits and compensation.
Ensure the efficient integration of HRIS applications in partnership with the HRIS team with other enabling functions and technologies; establish HRIS data standards and processes to maintain the integrity of the HRIS databases and information.
Accountable for the overall talent management benchmarking, HR metrics, scorecard and financial management of the shared services organization.
Direct project management activities by reviewing project initiative proposals, organizing project teams, developing budgets, and reviewing team performance to achieve project deliverables and milestones.
Develop, review, negotiate, and manage total rewards contractual agreements.
Develop multiple HR vendor relationships with overall responsibility for defining and implementing the appropriate level of metrics with a focus on year over year improvement, resulting in increased operational efficiency and lower costs, while improving the quality of service.
Provide oversight of HR service delivery to create, build, and implement effective, efficient, and consistent operational processes, leveraging technology improvements and ensuring optimal utilization of all resources.
Lead the analysis of the health system’s compensation policies in relation to similar jobs in comparable industries and geographic areas. Recommend changes as appropriate to establish and maintain competitive pay rates and ensure internal equity. This effort includes sustained, market-by-market analysis of competitive drivers and potential wage compression to allow the business to flex wage structures as needed.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local legislation influencing compensation to help AHS leadership consider potential actions to respond/incorporate emerging legislation.
Prepare department operating budgets on an annual basis and monitors areas of responsibility for compliance within the current budget; develops cost estimates, forecasts and expenditures to optimize rewards mix and ensures good governance and compliance processes.
Monitor and analyze trends and issues related to compensation within the company and the external market, such as turnover, recruitment, government regulations, and competitive practices to forecast the impact on the organization.
Ensure the internal equity and external competitiveness of the company's compensation elements through strategic monitoring of business conditions, legal requirements, and understanding of industry best practices.
Ensure the participation in industry compensation surveys to ensure and maintain competitive market positioning and influence change when appropriate.
Design and communicate our total rewards philosophy. Develop and coach others to own that message with all managers and employees.
Lead the administrative functions associated with the executive compensation program.

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
10 years of experience in a Total Rewards positions, including 5 years of management, planning, designing, negotiating, analyzing and implementation of compensation and benefits programs
Experience with executive compensation, broad-based compensation, and equity program design and administration
Knowledge of health retirement and welfare plan design and practices
Successful record of managing multiple projects concurrently
Strong analytical skills with the ability to strategically solve problems
DDI, PCC, PHR or SPHR certification preferred
